We are excited about the high interest in the Digital Learning Coach (DLC) opportunity.

We are looking for people who are willing to build capacity among teachers.  We would like to have someone other than the tech leader advocating for educational technology.   We know our tech leaders are stretched, and we also know there are other teachers who are eager to do more and are already trying things on their own.   These teachers would more than likely enjoy being part of a focused support group, and that is what the program is going to be.  We are finding ways to give schools more support.

Here are a few clarifications.

Each school’s DLC is
  • not a newly created position at the school nor at the district level
  • not a replacement for media coordinators
  • not a replacement for the tech leader
Each school’s DLC
  • will work with the current tech leader and media coordinator to plan appropriate and timely educational technology professional development throughout the school year.
  • will continue to teach his or her regular course load, but will find opportunities to model and share effective educational technology integration.  Modeling and sharing will occur through other teachers observing the DLC model technology integration during class time, through discussions in PLC meetings, through technology highlights during staff meetings, etc.
  • is willing to take on this added leadership role in the school community.
  • will collaborate with staff in small group settings (PLCs) and with individual staff members.
  • will collaborate with district personnel on a regular basis.
