A great way for students to show evidence of content mastery is to create brainstorming maps or mind maps. Bubbl is a free instructional web tool that allows students to create any type of mind map or graphic organizer.

To get started, go to https://bubbl.us/

You will see this screen and will need to register for your free account.

Click on "start brainstorming" to create a new map.

To start, click on the first bubble and start typing. Use the Tab key to insert another bubble beside the current bubble and use ctrl+enter to insert another bubble below the current bubble.

This is what my map looks like after inserting four bubbles across and one bubble below each initial bubble.  You can click on each bubble to move it or the entire map.

If you hover above any bubble, a menu will appear that will allow you to change the text or bubble color, size, and which bubbles are connected. This are just a few of the ways you can customize your maps.

Once you have finished your map, there are several things you can do with it. You can save the map to your bubbl account so you can access it later. You can also print it or click on the "export" button to export your map as a jpg or pdf file. Bubbl is a unique web tool as it allows you to save your work as a jpeg or pdf for free.

Give this excellent resource a try with your students!
