Slow Cooker Apple Pie Filling
Apple Pie Filling in a Slow Cooker is a great fall recipe. Feel free to use this simple filling in pies, crisps, cobblers, and other baked goods. It will add the warm flavors of cinnamon and nutmeg to your dessert table.
Ingredients:
- 10 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions:
In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with brown sugar, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until evenly coated
In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth
Place the coated apples in the slow cooker
Pour the cornstarch mixture over the apples and gently stir to combine
Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or until the apples are tender and the mixture has thickened, stirring occasionally
Once cooked, allow the apple pie filling to cool before using it in pies or desserts
