Slow Cooker Apple Pie Filling

Apple Pie Filling in a Slow Cooker is a great fall recipe. Feel free to use this simple filling in pies, crisps, cobblers, and other baked goods. It will add the warm flavors of cinnamon and nutmeg to your dessert table.

Ingredients:

  • 10 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions:

In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with brown sugar, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until evenly coated

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth

Place the coated apples in the slow cooker

Pour the cornstarch mixture over the apples and gently stir to combine

Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or until the apples are tender and the mixture has thickened, stirring occasionally

Once cooked, allow the apple pie filling to cool before using it in pies or desserts
